Providing Feedback

Read and Reflect

The purpose of feed back in the classroom is to let the students know how they are doing , what they are doing right and what they could do differently. I often speak with students one-on-one when conferencing about their writing and reading journals and assignments. Typically the feedback is based on my point of view. I would like to eventually start having the students self-assess or use peer conferencing before they turn in their writing assignments and literature circle activites. We are not quite there yet in the classroom. The students still need my feedback so that they have an understanding of the basic themes of writing (voice, grammar, punctuation, etc.). Once we have a greater understanding of what all the parts of writing are, we will begin peer conferencing. Sometimes it is easier for them to understand the feedback coming from peers rather than from a teacher.

Apply And Reflect

This was an interesting site to use. The microphone that I had did not work so well. It is very hard to understand my feedback that I provided. I don't know that I would use this for providing feedbakc to students. I could, however, use it to provide the feedback for the parents to listen to. This might actually be a great tool to use for my students when it comes to reading directions for activities. My students are low readers and would benefit from listening to the directions.
